MARISSA CRIDER
About
These dreamy paintings assemble in vibrant use of harmonious colors, geometry, symbols of home, compartmentalization, and wafting shadow and light.
Their size demands intimacy between painting and viewer.
When you draw near to these small paintings, they expand into vast and complex environments.
These Paintings are openings to "personal sets." The set is different from the home, in that a set can represent multiple spaces in different points in time that exist simultaneously.
They are personal sets because they hint to the familiar, but with time, this familiarity becomes confused. These "any places" are set somewhere vague, but deeply understood.
Received a BFA in painting from Purchase College, State University of New York
